Who is the person you most look up to in the horse world and why?

This is really a hard question becasue i look up to a lot of people in the horse industry. I could never name them all...

Donna Moore. She is self-made and very successful in the Saddlebred industry. She has a great eye for a nice horse and knows how to make a deal. She is a good trainer and business woman.

Stacy Westfall because she did what nobody else could do, and she did it as a woman!

Also my riding instructor because he knows so much and he's made it so far!

My friends lucy and elley because they understand me.  They are amazing horse women and they know loads of useful stuff about everything!  And becasue i am not the most condifent rider in the world they understand when i need to go back a step or just stay in my comfort zone and they are always there for a shoulder to cry on when it all goes wrong.

There's more than one.....

Bob Avila, AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year..THE top trainer of working cow horses in the nation.

Todd Bergen...A top five trainer in the nation of working cow horses...watched him grow up and become the success he is today.   He is a protege of Bob Avila.  Known as the "Ice Man" in competition.

Shawn Flarida...all around good guy and top trainer of  reining horses....always has a smile on his face.

Teddy Robinson...He has won the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity SEVEN times....a heck of a hand and never without a smile and funny story.   Always a crowd favorite.

I might think of more but the above trainers are total professionals and winners in their respective specialties.  I admire them all for their expertise in the vaquero tradition and their horsemanship abilities...they are true horsemen;  one will become a legend just as his father is.

Lets see there are several.

1st would be my grandfather, Richard Escacia(Half Modoc, half Spanish), a true Vaquero, passed away in 68, at 92, while Disney was filming a documentry called "Last of the Vaqueros", its out of print right now and hard to find. My parents have a copy that we transfered to dvd, its amaizing what he could do with a 85' riata, and with horses.

2nd My great uncle Gene Rambo. 10 time all round cowboy in the RCA(before it became the PRCA).

3. My father, never quite got is training break, yet, but an icredible horseman. Knows more about horses and cattle than I will ever dream of knowing, and we have the same degree, livestock genetics and nutrition. My specialty is nutrition.

4th My mother an amazing horse woman with more class than 15 charm schools.  

These people are my influeces, if I turn out to be half the trainer they are/where I could die happy.

Lucinda Green. I always admired her. I would also have to add my best friend Wendy. She has the biggest heart when it comes to horses and will take on any rescue in any country and bring it home to care for. I can only hope that if I was ever in her position, I would be strong enough to make the decisions that she has had to make.

stacy westfall. she is an amazing horsewoman, and as soon as i get enough time, i'm going to build a relationship like that with my horse. :)
