  1. Years ago, there was a right-hander named Allen Ripley, who was described by a teammate (I forget who) as "the guy with an EPA fastball. You know, it never goes over 55 mph."

  2. Wakefield, but he's a knuckleballer so it doesn't count.

Of the non-knucklers, I think it would be Moyer...and somehow he throws a change that is even slower.

  3. probably one of the older veteran pitchers.  I have never heard of a pitcher throwing less than 80mph in the majors though including Tim Wakefield.

  4. I'd say Greg Maddux. He gets batters out with accuracy.

  5. tim wakefield has a 74-78 mph fastball when he throws it.

  6. There are some pretty dead-armed pitchers going today, but Jamie Moyer has to be one of the slowest. His pitches are constantly topping out in the low eighties.

  7. Not counting knuckleballers I think it would probably be Moyer. In the games I have seen him pitch he doesn't get above 80-81 all that often.

  8. tim wakefield. his fastball couldn't get a ticket on the highway

  9. Probably Barry Zito. He throws like a 85 mph fastball with a 65 change.

EDIT: Wait.  Are you crazy, Blue Crew 08'?  Zito never threw 96 mph.  Do you know how fast 96 is.  Many pitchers in this league cant even throw that hard.  And Zito does throw in the mid 80s.  If he does throw 90 mph(which is probably his max), it'll be a straight cookie fastball that he throws on the 3-0 pitch.  Im confused about the 4 thumbs down, have you guys not watched Zito pitch before?  He leans on his curveball.  Im an A's fan and i do live in the Bay Area and i have seen  alotta of Zito to know how fast he can throw.

  10. zito used to throw 96 so idk what your talkin about 1st answer

but yeah i was guna say prolly some knuckleballer like wakefield. idk its hard because a bunch of mediocre pitchers throw around the same speeds in the low 80s

  11. I'd say Cy Young winner Randy Jones of the San Diego Padres back in the 70's. Coincidentally, that's where his "fastball" frequently clocked. Was said of him that he couldn't break a pane of glass with his fastball.

  12. Most probably Jamie Moyer of the Philadelphia Phillies.

  13. chan ho park or kevin slowey

  14. Tim Wakefield. His fastest is probably 78-84  but hiss knuckleball is usually slower.
