  1. It is the USA (no, seriously) who won the title back in 1924 when they beat France in the final.

Rugby then fell off the Olympic schedule.

  2. It was the USA, but it was really the Stanford University.  I don't believe the French played their national squad either.  By the way, I hear they are trying to make 7s an Olympic sport.

  3. The current 13th ranked team: USA. Football had been banned in California between 1904 and 1918 for being too dangerous, which led the Universities to turn to rugby. The teams of 1920 and 1924 were chosen by the Californian Rugby Union, and took advantage of the absence of the rugby teams from British Commonwealth countries.

At the Antwerp games of 1920 France and the USA entered, and at the Paris games of 1924 three teams entered - USA, France and Romania.  The USA beat France on both occasions to take gold.

  4. IN the US it fell off more than the olympic schedule.  But true enough, it is the US - I think they won it twice...

  5. kia ora

U.S only won it because there was no New Zealand in tournament for rugby, there was france, and i cant remember who else
