Who is the smartest person in the world?

Technically, every one in this world is smart. It depends if we want to use our smartness. But, I think, Albert Einstein is the smartest one.

Since everyone in the world has not had his intelligence assessed, there's no way to say who the smartest person might be.  There are some pretenders to the title who more or less make a living from the claim, based on scores on IQ tests, but the vast majority of people in the world never take an IQ test, so the identity of the truly smartest person, even by that measure, isn't really known.

To answer that question, one would have to come up with a definitive measure of "smart".  Is it defined as knowing the most individual facts (like a game show contestant)?  Is it the ability to recognize abstract patterns (as is tested in most IQ tests)?  Does wisdom have a place in the equation, or can a fool who's good at processing information be smart?

There's no definitive answer as to what makes up true intelligence, so there really can't be an answer as to who the smartest person is.  Most people heralded as "geniuses" these days are merely the ones with the best PR people, so whoever the smartest person in the world is, we've probably never even heard of him/her.

I agree with the first person, however, last summer a show on Game Show network called Grand Slam was a tournament of the top 16 winningest game show contestants ever. Ken Jennings won the tournament, although Brad Rutter, having won a total of $3.255 million dollars on various jeopardy appearances, has won more money for his smarts than anyone else.
