  1. There are actually 4 true fathers of sociology.

    karl marx

    Weber

    Durkheim

    Simmel

Each brought a major contribution and thought into sociologists today and made a huge impact during their own time.

  2. i don't know. i heard the real father of sociology is Ibn Khaldun

  3. Comte coined the term sociology but the man that is also credited is Durkheim, since he founded the first major theory structural functionalism.  Comte is the founder of the discipline though.

  4. I would go for Karl Marx

  5. Comte he even coined the term Sociology

  6. As far as I know I am. You cannot put a monopoly on any observation of civilization. Thought, humanity, and perpetual motion belongs to all of us. We all have a right to think, and nothing in sociology was really 'discovered' by any one man. Human nature remains the typical; and neither did Columbus discover the island where he found Arawaks who told him its name. Pythogorus learnt something in Egypt, because it was knowledge to many people before. We ascribe a monopoly of 'theorem' to him. The same thing needs not happen with sociology. I am pinning my name to that list! Add Highthoughts above!

    Peace.
