  1. If it is the picture I'm thinking of -- Ruth, diminished and frail, leaning on his bat, pictured from behind -- it was taken on Sunday 13-June-1948, the day the Yankees retired his #3 and barely two months before he passed away.

    The Yankees that day hosted the Cleveland Indians, and won 5-3.
