I am referring of course to the Northern Ireland note, who is this woman? She looks like a classical goddess or other figure, or perhaps victorian?

  1. a woman....

  2. I often wondered that aswell

  3. we don't have five pound notes any more.  We only use Euro notes which are almost the same throughout Europe with just small country differences.

I presume you are referring to Lady Lavery.  She was the wife of Sir John Lavery a well known artist and considered to be a great beauty. haven't seen one of those notes for a while but don't remember a black child?

  4. that is sterling which is not the currency of the Republic so you need to ask this question in Northern Ireland!

  5. I think it was Lady Lavery.
