  2. who remembers the worst an any sport?

  3. I think its Alonso. I had become very confident on it when he left McLaren.

  4. yushi hide bcos he was too dangerous to f1.  He didn't even know how to enter the pit stops well!!!!!!

  5. Its that Indian Driver in Last years F1 season, his name was something Katiken or whateva..

    d**n he was baaaaD

  6. I'm sure he's not but Ralph Firman immediatly comes to mind.

It's Tiff Needall all over again.

Tiff-glad to see things have worked out for you in TV land.

  7. From recent years I'd have to say Yuji Ide. Even the FIA asked  (more like ordered) him to go home. AS for Worst wrold champion, I don't know who to pick. They are not World Champions for nothing

  8. 1. Jean Denis Delatraz on debut ( Australia 94) was lapped by lap 10, by lap 57 10 laps down, he retired his Larrouse with gear problems, did manage to speed in pit lane!

    2. Phill Hill was statistically poor, only 3 wins in F1 career.

  9. Yuji Ide is the only driver ever to be thrown out by the authorities because he was too useless, so he gets my vote. Alex Soler-Roig was pretty useless too, as was Alex Yoong.

As to the worst ever world champion, Jody Scheckter is right up there, alongside another luminary, Damon Hill. Neither of them would have been champion without their highly-competitive, ultra-reliable car and the best driver of their time being saddled with a poor and unreliable machine.

EDIT Phil Hill was fairly unimpressive statistically, but he had a shortish career in generally obsolete or unreliable cars. The only year he got his hands on a competitive car he won the title, albeit aided by his teammate's untimely death. He was a top sportscar driver before moving into F1 (including winning the Le Mans 24h), and his racing career was ended early by health problems. I'd put him (well) above Scheckter or D.Hill, but below any of the other world champions...even Mansell.

    EDIT 2

Hill's performance in Hungary in 1997 was very good, but he was helped enormously by being on the right tyres in exceptionally hot weather - the Bridgestones were much more hard-wearing than the Goodyear "soft" compound. If the Ferraris and Villeneuve hadn't had tyre trouble, and if Frentzen (who had gambled and won with a brave tyre choice: the "hard" Goodyears) hadn't retired, then he wouldn't have been in the top four. I admit that fifth place would still have been an achievement in that car, but even the worst of drivers have a good day at the office sometimes.

    EDIT 3

What I remember about Damon Hill is that he needed to ask the team to make the rookie Coulthard move over for him on at least 4 occasions in 1994, and that he got spooked by Coulthard being much faster than him in race trim. I also remember that he threw away the Williams drive with a major over-estimation of his market value when it came time to renegotiate his contract, and that Arrows spent a lot of money (which could have been better used either developing the car or not getting into so much debt) in paying for one second place finish and not a lot else.

  10. david (i crash in the pit lane) coulthard
