Who is this female comic?

I heard a comedian make a remark about her partner wanting her to shave her privates. She said, "I felt like I was dating a pedophile." The female comic has a slow, thoughtful voice. She had curly hair and sort of looked like Bernadette Peters. I think she's been around awhile and is quite famous. Any idea who I'm thinking of? It might have been on HBO.

The description of the voice sounds like Rita Rudner, and I could hear her saying it, but I don't know for sure.
