  1. i hadnt even heard that yet

  2. I agree with you 100% the fact that children and adults are killing each other has nothing to do with the fact they were home schooled. It only has to do with the fact that no one taught self control! Or morality!

  3. I have developed an automatic eye-roll response to that argument already.

It is a pretty lame attempt to bash HS. It is especially lame when you consider he was a Public School student for years, until he was kicked out.

  4. I have not heard it but if you confront those people they cannot give your proper proof that, that is true. Public school shooting happen all the time! Also the boy was kicked out of regular school so who ever says it can go shove it!

  5. Well, it's not what we are teaching our son.  As a matter of fact, I don't know of any homeschool parents who teach their children that if things don't go their way, to bring out a gun and shoot somebody.  I do, however, know of a great many television programs that teach this way of dealing with problems.  Instead of blasting the homeschool population, the people who think homeschooling is bad should blast the television and movie industry.  That would be more logical.

  6. I'm tired of people being so... unthinking. Is it how schools have taught people to think? Is it how parents have taught people to think? Is it how peers have taught people to think? Is it difference in IQ? Difference in learning styles? What???? There's something causing people to NOT really think things through properly and be quick to judge. I'd love to know what it is.

Mere_Mor... Perhaps you should hang out with a group of homeschoolers and really see what they're like instead of basing your judgments on individual cases you know of. You have undoubtedly met non-freak homeschoolers and just didn't know it. I know homeschooled teens whose public schooled friends are always so surprised to find out they're homeschooled because "you're not weird". My social homeschooled kids get looks of amazement from some adults because they get along so well with others and are just plain great.

  7. Ignorance is bliss; simply do not pay this kind of nonsense any attention and it will go away.

The real tragedy here is for the families involved; out of respect one should not turn this into a blaming, or media circus.

    Have some compassion please.

  8. Me!  Oh, me, me, me!

Apparently the dozens of public school and college shootings by non-hs students are water under the bridge...one troubled person (who was only "homeschooled" because he was kicked out of school for behavioral issues) opens fire and of course, homeschooling is evil.  Sigh.

I truly am sorry for the people of Colorado Springs; my prayers are with them.  But homeschooling is not the culprit.
