Or any pet for that matter.

Most parents know what their kid should and shouldn't have and what they are capable of. They shouldn't be asking strangers to persuade their parents for them. Responsibility is a must for taking care of a bird, or any pet.

  1. kids go through phases, plus a gold fish should solve any " i want a bird" problem!

a black one so it looks exotic!

  2. I'd like to personally backhand every single child who comes on here whining for a pet.  When did kids start learning this attitude of entitlement?  What on earth makes them think their parents have any obligation to get them a pet?  I am totally disgusted by that kind of behavior, personally.  If that kid doesn't have a job and a house of their own, they should just take what they're given and be darn grateful their parents gave them that much!  Food and shelter is all a parent is obligated to provide!

Sorry, you hit on one of my biggest pet peeves.  :-P

Edit:  I had many pets as a child, but those were family decisions and not a result of me being a spoiled begging brat and insisting on getting everything I wanted whether my parents agreed or not.  So there goes that theory.

  3. I agree ! if their parents say no, it means no.

  4. I think it is annoying when little kids want a pet, but think about it, you WERE a kid and you DID WANT THAT PET! I find most of the people who complain are those who didn't get a pet when they were young and are taking their grievances out on poor little kids.

I also think parents do have an obligation to give their children the best childhood possible, and yes they should give food and shelter, but they also should give them a good childhood and tell them what is right and wrong. Also, I think its good for children to have a pet. Yes, most homes are not suitable for one, but if the house has the space, then why not? Having a pet gives the child important lessons on life, and someday that child will be bringing up a family of its own.

  5. Yeah I know! I see a lot of those! If a parent says no They know the child bvetter than we do! I think children shouldnt have pets anyway! That how they end up in pounds!

  6. The best pet birds for children are the wild ones. They can provide bird seed and water daily and learn about responsibiliy. It's fun, because they can watch them and listen to the natural music, but nobody has to clean their cages or worry about them getting loose.

Yes, I don't think that young children understand the responsibilities that come with haivng a pet, and they soon lose interest.

  7. Agreed!!!  : )
