Who is to be blamed for Pakistan Cricket's downfall?
Pakistan has had a lot of controversies in the world of cricket. Our team has always been in the news due to the accusations either they made on each other and board or because of the allegations put on them by the cricket governing bodies and media.
These controversies have not only kept Pakistani cricket in news but also made us lose some sensational cricketers. A very recent example which has still not been resolve is of the dispute between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and Pakistan cricket board. It has severely
hampered the image of Pakistan in the cricket world.
Shahid Afridi suddenly retired from the international cricket in reaction to him being sacked as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380 regarding skipper’s conduct after the
West Indian tour.
Afridi baffled with the sudden action against him protested by making the announcement that he is taking retirement from the international cricket. It hit his fan and the cricket like a bomb. Many senior players called it an immature reaction and said that
being in the team and performing for the country should be more important for the player then being the captain.
Afridi blamed the board and the coach for mis-treating him and being unfair to him stating it to be the reason for his retirement. On the other hand, the counter party said that he has made outrageous remarks on the media which is a direct violation of the
contract he had with PCB that is why his contract was cancelled and his NOC was rejected.
There are varied views about this decision of the boars, some call it extreme action as Afridi was a classy player, and others call it a fair decision because nothing is above the law. Many famous cricketers blame both the sides involved in this issue. Former
cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Syed-Zaheer-Abbas-Kirmani-c92392 has held both of them responsible for this matter.
Zaheer expressed his views in Dubai on 14th June that he thinks both the concerned parties are at fault but their actions have caused huge damage to the country’s cricket. He said that Afridi has been doing things in the past which were controversial
but nobody took the notice, Board should have stepped up at that time. This negligence gave Afridi more courage and liberty to repeat the same mistakes again. Furthermore, he expressed that no matter whose mistake aggravated this small issue, Afridi is in
direct violation to the contract and hence actions against him are justified.
He says no matter we will lose a good cricketer but already so many times Afridi’s misconduct has been ignored ,if this time same is done , it will wrong messages to the rest of the players and more issues would start popping up.
Afridi challenged the actions of PCB in Sindh High Court and there the situation between Skipper and PCB administration was like a suicide Attack for the public and cricket lovers, said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imran-Khan-c64237. When things became tense, influential people from the government
intervened and convinced the parties to solve the matter outside court. Imran khan blames the Board and says that he is against the appointment of Board’s chairman by the President of Pakistan. According to him, nothing in his country is fair and transparent
and so are sports. He wants the political figures to stay out of sports at least and let the process of chairman’s appointment be in the hands of the cricket professionals, not the so called leaders.
Different opinions are floating regarding who is to be blamed but mostly the facts reveal that board has always been controversial. Today meeting is taking place between Afridi and the PCb committee and the fate of Afridi’s career will be decided.
