  1. rugby is catcghing on in North america   and I believe you should be able to find the USA games during the upcoming cup. I also believe its more effective to step on these peoples heads.

  2. The IRB has nothing to do with it. It is the perceived popularity (or rather non-popularity) of rugby that has the USA networks not showing games. They are businesses and will show whatever will bring in the viewers.

Do something about it in advance. Bombard networks with requests. Get your family, friends and others that don't like you as well as all known rugby-lovers to write, phone, e-mail and knock down the doors at the networks. Maybe someone will listen and show something.

Good luck. Hope you get a campaign going.

  3. I think it's money and sponsorship. Thankfully I live in Canada where the coverage is great - all games in the past world cups have been televised live with the vast majority of them being live broadcasts.

I know a few years back when the sports network here was looking at dropping their Rugby coverage it was only a large outcry from the Rugby community in Canada that changed their minds.

I know in my letter I raised the point that I thought their selection of sports that they chose to cover was starting to suck. When the network started, they carried great sports from all over the world. Rugby (league and union), Soccer, Australian Rules, Hurley, Gaelic Football etc. And now they were dropping these sports in favour of pseudo sports and total bulsh*t like street luge, x-games, paintball, poker and the like. They actually replied that letter and said that those pseudo sports had high ratings and it was easier to sell advertising/sponsorship during those time slots then it was when Rugby or some of those other sports I mentioned where on.

Sad to think that many people on this Continent would rather watch street luge than a world cup Rugby game. The masses are asses.

So - flush (or stomp) the heads of any corporate big wig whose company chooses put money into adverising and sponsorship of any or all of those c**p "sports" already mentioned instead of real sports.

  4. the public! rugby is still not known in the US,it will mostly gain coverage only during RWC ,and espn will only show highlights!
