What city and state do you live and and how many channels do you get? Do you have cable in your house besides?

Cable is not worth the price to me so I am buying a converter for my old tv tommorow. I was just curious how many people are using a converter instead of subscribing to cable.

  1. We gave up cable TV years ago, and are happy for it.  We have an old analog TV, and also a new HDTV.  We bought a new HDTV antenna for the new TV.  I bought several to try out, and I kept this one:

it works pretty well, but I am within 15 miles of the TV towers.

The amplified ones seemed to work WORSE than this simple one.

  2. I do.  I live in San Antonio, TX.  I get 9 stations and many of those have sub channels so that's a total of about 15 choices.  I also have Dish Network, but they don't have HD signals for many of the locals yet and they don't carry the sub channels.  Neither does the local cable company.  The local stations look better off air, too.
