I use a wireless network in my home. I did not set up a password for my wireless network. Recently, the speed is drop a lot. My co-worker said it may be few of my neighbors are connected into my network. How can I find out? Can you help? I need a step by step direction, since I am a “computer physically and mentally challenged” person. Thank you in advance.

  1. Cut off and restart the network (unplug and replug the router). That will kick them and you off. Then put a password on the router and encrypt the signal if your router has options for it.

  2. We have a network too but our house is too far for anyone to get in it and we have a password. You should set up the password instead so then you wont have to worry about anyone else using it anymore, unless they find out the password but that wouldn't be that easy... Find out the brand like Linksys or w/e then go to their website and find out how to create the password, etc.

  3. your neighbors

  4. You should set up wireless encryption on your network.

First, connect your PC to your wireless router by LAN cable (not wirelessly).  Then run the installation CD that came with your wireless router.  Follow the instructions from there.

There are usually three choices for encryption protocols: WEP, WPA (better) and WPA2 (best).  Use WPA2 if available.  Use a strong password that is at least 10 characters long and a combination of letters, numbers and other characters if possible.

  5. Look at the wireless router, find the brand and model #. Go to that manufactures website and they should have instructions on setting up a wireless network. It shoul also help you set up encription, which... yes, is much easier.

  6. you could get their mac id and ban them . it easier just to encrypt your signal
