Who is wearing the Leatt Neck Brace?

Has anyone have any negative remarks against it?

Is the more expensive Sport-brace better than the cheaper Club-brace? Or is the weight the only difference?

I have read all there is to read about it on several websites but now I need some personal experience answers!

  1. I have one and it is great! I highly recommend it. It does take a little getting use to it and it's not uncomfortable. I do freestyle motocross and i wear it when i practice(any) new trick and even when i'm practicing my supermoto racing. I just recently started teaching freestyle motocross at my compound and i'm requiring all the riders to wear the "Leatt Neck Brace" or the "Neck Roll". I got introduced to the "Leatt Neck Brace" right before X-games last year when i was at Carey Hart's tattoo shop in Nevada and he showed me his "Leatt Neck Brace" i thought it was sweet and i have had one ever since and it has saved me alot. The weight is not that noticable, actually it's really light for what it looks like.

  2. I wear one, and I love it. I cannot even tell I have it on when I am riding, and now I will not ride without one......

  3. Both my boys wear the Leatt Brace and have had no problems adjusting to wearing them.  If you have a very bad crash you are more likely to end up with concussion from it as it is stiffer through your neck and shoulders.  This is due to your head going from the speed you are travelling to zero faster than without the neck brace and the impact is not absorbed by your neck getting bent.  This results in your brain getting a bigger jolt.  concussion has far less long term implications than a broken neck and would be my choice any day.

I know a few riders who are paralyzed due to bike stacks and if you are ever in the pits at a Supercross event it is a real eyeopener.  One that I attended had at least 10 people in casts of some sort.  I saw about 3 in wheel chairs and they were all obviously people who would have been racing that day if not due to injury.  I think the ambulance carted over 20 people off that race meet as here in Australia the audience don't get to see all the qualifiers but usually only see the main events and finals at night.  So a lot of carnage can happen during the day.

I would strongly suggest you get a brace as they are not heavy to wear and the benefits of wearing one are there.  My boys have been wearing the brace for well over a year now and my youngest has ended up in hospital with a number of injuries last year with bad crashes one which put him in traction for a month.  But his neck was fine thanks to the brace.

There are other brands available like the soft detached versions of the EVS brace but Leatt argue that they can cause more damage than good as they don't go to the outer extremeties of the helmet and in certain crashes they cause a leverage point.  This can put more pressure on the neck

There is also more neck braces like the leatt coming out like the FRO but it is cheaper and the buckle system is cheaper and therefore could break easier than the leatt. So far the leatt brace is the best and definately needed when riding.
