My favorite commentator duo is probablly rempe/davenport. i also enjoy rempe/mataya. favorite is rempe though, he explaines everything very throughlly, and is great on the teleprompter. here is a link to world 8ball championship reyes against jarvis. commentators are rempe/matya and a (professional sports announcer, who know nothing about the game, which i hate when they hire someone like that jim kelly i think. anyone who got to watch this on direct tv, he was on every match, and he started to get on your nerves lol, he was so fasinated about the smallest combinations, they called him combo kelly. that all the guy worried about. i want to hear nothing but pros commintate. just a pet peve of mine lol. i like varner as a commentator pretty much also. mark wilson did a good job i thought comintating the reyes/strickland color of money match. he looked a little nervous at the start, but loosened up, and commentated the race to 120 very well, especially with out a teleprompter to draw on.

  1. I really like Billy Incardona and Jimmy Mataya When they do those 10 ball ring games at derby city. They just crack me up with some of that old pool lingo. I totally agree with Loriann about Ewa and Mitch though. She really should leave the predictions alone. She's wrong probably half the time. I don't really care much for Allen Hopkins commentating skills either. I played a couple of games with him up in Wisconsin one time , He's probably a great guy but he just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. Couldn't be my attitude could it? LOL......

  2. Belive it or not I really dont even notice in fact quite often I turn off the sound It is a distraction for me watching a game

Like Billy Incardona great guy but with him no matter what every game is called like its one pocket

  3. Ewa Mataya Laurence used to get on my nerves quite a bit, but only slightly now. She gets too hyped up and her shot predictions are a bit 'off'. I still wonder about her calls.  Mitch, is a good balance for Ewa; he's much more mellow, relaxed,  and reserved. I literally talk to the TV (Ewa) and tell her, "NO, Ewa! She's NOT going to play safe. She's going for the easy bank with low right and a nice stroke to pull the cue ball away from the corner pocket, and get good shape on the 7!"  .....hahaha. I'm right, about 98.9% of the time. I'm so glad that Ewa stopped drawing multiple diagrams of the 25 ways that the next ball could be made (yes, I'm exaggerating --but it really was over-kill --ugh) and has toned down her over-zealous scenarios significantly. I've turned it into a game of sorts. I call the next 3 shots, before Ewa pipes in with her hyped up 'schpeel' (nothing personal, Ewa). I think Mitch and Ewa are the most seasoned commentators on ESPN.

I don't recall Mark Wilson, commentating on Effy and The Pearl's match.

Here's a look at Jeanette Lee's early attempt at commentating:

She's a MUCH better shooter than she is a commentator, though she has come a long way since those days.

I enjoy Jim Rempe too, though I rarely see him commentate.

    Fun question, pro'
