THIS IS NOT FOR CAR DRIVERS. READ THE QUESTION. MOTORCYCLE RACERS. RIDERS NOT DRIVERS. GOT THAT.

Enough of all the SHlTE scooter questions.

I would like to know who your fav road racing rider is, but moe importantly WHY.

For me, it has to be Carl Fogarty.

Through thick and thin, the guy just keep on fighting. His total of 7 world titles says one thing, but how he got them is a whole other story. His I.O.M T lap record stood for over a decade with great riders on far better bikes trying, but nobody could beat it.

Its just a shame that some of our younger race fans [ of the now almost dead W.S.B championship ] , may only remember him as "the guy who failed with the 3 cyl bike"

Foggy's performance will live on the record books for the next generation to see.

Not that I asked but my second is Mick Doohan. "THAT" crash in 1992 and then he started to win the blue ribbon class !! WOW.

  1. Hiroshi Aoyama (250 cc GP) - after he fell of at donnington right in front of me on the first lap (I think 2003) . Picked the bike back up and rode it like he was posessed. I think he passed at least 1 - 2 people every lap for the rest of the race.  The main race was a big anti climax after that. Second would be Troy Bayliss - I dont know why, Probably due to the last WSB race he was in with Colin Edwards where they were litteraly leaning against each other on the last lap. Also because of what he did on his last GP Ducati Ride - I think Ducati made a huge mistake keeping Cappirossi (dont get me wrong - seems like a nice guy - but never impressed me on the Duke) as illustrated by Stoner this year.

No 3 - Rossi , may seem like an easy choice , and the guy can be an arrogant blowhard (Try reading his book) but he has elevated the profile of the sport, and you have to love the way he stuck it to honda.

    Least favourite rider

2 of them, and both for the same reason. James Toseland, Nicky Hayden, as far as I am concerned they are both also rans! Neither deserving of the world championships they achieved - hardly a first place between them. A good reason for restructuring the points spread in both championships.

  2. The Doctor #46 Valentino Rossi on the Yamaha of course.

One 125cc World Championship, One 25cc World Championship, Five MotoGP World Championships.

Valentino Rossi wins 3 MotoGP titles with team Honda, while his main rival Max Biaggi, riding the Yamaha is unable to compete with Rossi on the Honda and blames his inability to challenge his countryman because Max Biaggi claims that he is on an inferior motorcycle.

The entire World Motorcycle Press is in agreement, "Rossi is on better equipment than Biaggi. They all agree Yamaha sucks.

Max Biaggi goes to Honda while Valentino Rossi goes to Yamaha and it is generally agreed; Rossi is doomed. He is so done as a MotoGP racer.

In MotoGP racing it was the biggest shocker of 2004; Rossi quits Honda and signs with Yamaha. Clearly the inferior motorcycle. Rossi not only jumps ship but nearly his entire team goes with him. Including Jeremy Burgess after 18 years with team Honda as Doohans team manager, among others.

    That's what you call devotion!

Rossi wants the challenge, he knows it is not the bike it is the rider! Honda laughs at him. The gauntlet goes down! Rossi goes on to win 2 titles on what is generally known to be inferior equipment!

That is the sign of a true champion.

    ];-)

    .

  3. Current favorite Rossi. What can you say the guy is unbelivable even on clearly slower bikes. Past favorites Schwantz and the fatest guy that never won the title Mamola.

  4. My fav was Joey Dunlop RIP, many a time I watched him belting around the road races in Northern Ireland with his iconic yellow crash helmet. He is sadly missed as he was a pleasure to watch, he made it look so easy :)

  5. Nitro Nori for me. He was robbed of the wsbk title for a bogus doping call

I believe it was efedrine big deal drink a redbull and you get that.

He has made huge improvements these past two seasons.

I really feel he was just out of shape for a few years he starts the race out big then would fade due to fitness but now he's right there

More power to him I like his style and he rides like me. Only I may be a touch faster.

I like all of the wsbk guys. and  have heard that they are all like family. only biaggi is starting his superstar c**p cutting people off and that. my list of favs are

    haga

    edwards

    corser

    ben,eric bostrom

    bayliss

    hodgson

    xaus

    hayden

    rossi

    tamada

    toseland

    kaygyama

    stoner

    franki chili

    foggy

    caparossi

    sete

not much on mladin he should step up and ride in wsbk or motogp I mean how many times do you need to win the same thing

I am still pissed they changed channels for the motogp coverage

I also have a crapo 50 buttermint sve scooter can you tell me what size tires are on it

I am with you there are a lot of window lickers posting on here

  6. The Doctor, number 46, Valentino Rossi. He won a lot of races at a young age. Rossi, GO!!!!

  7. Bayle went to the USA and did what no one has ever done before him. He won the 250 super-cross 250 & 500 motocross titles in the same year.

After that he decided to go road racing in 93 so with no motivation in 92 other than *issing off his team mate Jeff Stanton by passing him in the last 500 mx race of the year to deny him the triple he moved back to Europe with a Yamaha ride.

This guy is determined to race and prove himself. He could have easily stayed in America or moved back to do the world motocross championship which he could of won easily, but no he went road racing. Everyone said he was mad and would embarrass himself.

Did he care? No way had he had 1 pole in 250’s and 2 in 500

Not the most Stella of road racing careers but he was a racer and wanted to race

What he also did was to get me and I am sure a lot of other dirt orientated viewers into road racing....and for that I am grateful to him

  8. My current fave has to be Rossi - no surprises there as he rides like an angel, and he cracks me up with his silly ar$e stunts - like wearing false teeth on the grid, or getting the broom out to wind up wossis face (Biaggi?) after all that b0llocks with the race officials a few years ago.

I've sort of got a soft spot for Kiyonari but I don't know whether that's 'cos I enjoy his interviews so much - I defy anyone to not grin whilst watching - or whether he seems like the only person who's gonna make Lavilla work for it this year.

(By the way - Lavilla - you gotta admire the way he just turned up and ripped the ar$e out of all those twisty little tracks!)

But my all time fave has to be Barry Sheene - what a geezer!

That's who we all pretended to be when we were kids and running around on C90's and fizzies (or even on your treader!) He made racing COOL, he wasn't posh and he always had a bunch of wild wimmin after him! Must of been the great smell of Brut -or was it Hai Karate??

More importantly - he WON stuff, and when he got turned into Britains first bionic man that was it -  He was an icon.

  9. Ricky carmichael because he won at Southwick last weekend, and if he wins at Budd Creek it will be his 100th national championship win. He is unstoppable and it is sad that he is retiring to take up yet another extreme sport, stockcar racing.
