  1. I haven't seen Maurice, but I heard a lot about him.

To answer your question, I'd say my fav is Michael Long. I have seen him play for West Torrens, here in Adelaide before he was drafted by Essendon. Even at that age and lack of experience, I knew he would make it big in the AFL. That's why Essendon picked him up.

He has really set a good example to other indigenious players and they look up to Michael Long as their Hero.

  2. Pastor DOUG NICHOLLS, ..played on the wing for Fitzroy.... many years ago ... and possibly was ,one of  the very first Indigenious players .?  He later became Govenor of S.A.  and according to my late father, shook hands with me when i was 2, only 56 years ago.  I really enjoyed watching Graham "POLLY"Farmer in the ruck for Geelong,  Farmer was in involved in one of the best set plays of all time with Billy Goggin.     He would take the ball from the ruck and handball 30 to 40 metres over his shoulder, left or right it didnt matter, to Goggin, who was already running Like a cut Cat towards Goal .   That set play must surely be, where Bobby Davis coined the phrase "fair dinkum unbelievable"...because it actually was !!   My favourite Indigenious umpire was Glen James , when I worked for an AFL club, James would enter the after game entertainment room with a big smile and offer to point THE BONE at me, or anyone else who was willing to criticise his days umpiring , ......a wonderful personality!!

  3. Michael Long.... im a pies supporter and i think michael long has been the best. He won 1 maybe 2 or 3 norm smith medals and i think he kicked a goal of the year. Great player.

  4. My all time favourite indigenious Aussie rules player is ........... DAVID WIRRAPUNDA - WEST COAST   he has commitment and everything a excellent football player needs he has been with the eagles since he was a teenager. I believe he should be captain instead of Chris Judd because he is victorian. My other fav indigenious player is Ashley Sampi may be unfit now but took mark of the year just like "jezzalenko you beauty" :)

  5. I think Polly Farmer for Geelong but my choice would be Leon Davis but I may be a bit prejudice I barrack for Collingwood

  6. jimmy kracker when he played for nth melb about the same era as maurice was going around

  7. There have been quite a few outstanding indigenous players throughout the years, personally i liked watching  Phil and jimmy krackour (not sure on spelling) it was like they had mental telepathy the way they used to find each other with the footy and both had that ability to do the freakish things.

others id throw in would be,Michael long,Nicky winmar, wirrapunda, and one to watch in the future patty Ryder looks like he could be a star.
