you may not have heard of these two, they are both aussies, goerge moore was probly before your time, and darren beadman is now based in hong kong!

iv'e got to say george moore was the greatest ever!

  2. joe talamo racing on the west coast at delmar currently

  3. Eddie D, Pat Day and  Kent Desormeaux of the famous guys.  My local favorite is Jamie Theriot (Fairgrounds)

There are a lot of good riders out there.

  4. Bill Shoemaker....the smoothest rider of them all.

  5. My favorite active jockeys are Robby Albarado (regular rider of Curlin), Kent Desormeaux (regular rider of Big Brown and closing on 5,000 wins!), Rafael Bejarano (regular rider of Ginger Punch and retired Heatseeker), Gerard Melancon, Mike Smith (regular rider of the unbeaten Zenyatta) and Jon Court.

My favorite past jockeys include Eddie Arcaro (won the Kentucky Derby five times and twice the Triple Crown), Red Pollard (jockey of the great Seabiscuit), Gary Stevens (won Kentucky Derby three times), George Woolf (won famous match race on Seabiscuit in the War Admiral vs. Seabiscuit race) and Johnny Longden (won Kentucky Derby twice).

My personal favorite of the past is George Woolf. Sadly, he fell (probably from fainting) from a horse  when it entered the clubhouse turn  in 1946 and shortly after died at the age of 35. A bronze statue stands in his honor at Santa Anita Racetrack.

  6. I have always admired Gary Stevens as I got to see him ride at the old Longacres in WA.  Gotta love the local heroes as well -- the Baze family.

  7. My favorite jockey still riding is DARREN BEADMAN.

My favorite retired jockey is ROY HIGGINS

  8. I liked Larry Snyder, Euclides Vergara, Pat Day, Don Howard and Willie Shoemaker.

  9. If picking one, I have to say that Jerry Bailey would be my favorite (past) jockey.  Jerry now retired is a Hall of Fame Jockey.  Retired January 28, 2006, now has a new career as a race analyst for ABC.  He has very good insight.  Check out Jerry's book it's a great book, written not to long ago called:

    AGAINST THE ODDS

    ~Riding for my life~

It's a great book for those who are interested in horse racing and a jockey's life.

Jerry Bailey was born in Dallas Texas.

    Thanks for the question.

    BTW:  Present Jockey:  Robby Albarado

  10. My current favorite is Garrett Gomez, although Alan Garcia is quickly catching up... that kid can really ride... he'll be one of the greats someday.  My favorite all time is Gary Stevens... I'm very happy he made a comeback in 2001, then I was pretty sad when he finally made his retirement in 2005... although I get to see him on NBC for every major race!

  11. Willie Shoemaker

  12. Well I would have to say thats a very tough question !!

For one I do have some from the past,, That I never knew ,But read about them ,, I really can not say they where my favorite's,, as in seeing Them  ride on a daliy basis, or on other horses that did not make it famous ,,

So The ones I respect and admire are all living but one is, Willie ,, And I lost allot feelings for him on how he killed him self,

Steve Cauthen was a super natural,, and the Shoe made sure he did not take his place,,so he went to England..

    Laiffit ,, Pierce, ""Toro,,Turf king""

Lambart ,,"" Baltazar  he was a pianoist..""Castaneda,,Taller for most""   MCARRON,,   Solomone,,and the 2 bothers Stevens,, Olivares  ,,Delahoussaye,,,,Asmussen,,

T Swan, Karen Black ,,Smith = all the other girls also !!!!!

There is  SO many others.. Not because they won the Derby, Because where good riders in there own right ,,

      , Lambert was a bit wild ,,

So there I would love to say the older ones But like I said I never saw them ride all the time

The others I have seen win ,lose fall ,, etc,,Plus I worked with them and got to know their real self ,, Steve Cauthen was a very gentle person ,, Not at all like people think when he made that gum commercial,, A pure NATURAL AND KIND TO HIS HORSES NEVER RODE A HORSE WITH OUT GIVING THEM A PAT AND STROKE ON THEIR NECKS,,

Thats it ,, I am sure I missed a few more of my favorites !!!

  13. top 3 from the past..........alvaro pineda, bill shoemaker, laffit

    pincay jr.

present.....rafael bajarano, garret gomez, mike smith
