  1. Turner

  2. Probably John singer Sargent. . . . a master of the portrait, character study, and the incorporation of those into the landscape.  http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=...

  3. I like a print I have of the inside of a wood cabin.  A woman dressed in red is making tortillas.  I like all the repeated round shapes in the round tortilla, round grill, etc.  Looks like she has made them for yrs.  I like it because of the eternity of women making many types of flatbread in many cultures, such as women in India making chapattis.  In fact I've tried my hand at making chapattis myself, but I'm not that great at it & usually just warm up some ready-made tortillas.  I've heard that so many families make chapattis for breakfast in India that even a 5-yr-old can roll them out.  There are so many types of flatbread that the community college here offers a course called Flatbreads in the Cullinary Dept.  I like the knowledge in the skill, even in such a rustic setting.

I also like the warm colors & the way the red & brown & hint of yellow & beige all go together.  Finally, I like the hint of light and shadows in a house that probably lacks electricity.  Perhaps the light reflects the value the artist places on such knowledge and honors both women and their skill.

This painting is signed "Diego Sanchez," not the more famous name "Diego Rivera."  I looked online for more info, but didn't get any clear info except that the 2 names seemed to be seen as the same.  Maybe sometime I'll ask Answers if any one knows more about this artist.

  5. Hi,

    Well...must I have to pick one ?

    I guess I'll chose Vermeer.

I also like Girodet, Titian and Ingrés.

Will also add that my favourite period is probably the Dutch Baroque.

    Kind regards,

  6. I love Frida Kahlo, because her paintings have real-life experiences behind them. She paints her reality. I love looking at her paintings and trying to understand the story behind it.

  7. I like salvador dali. Art is about the interpretation of objects and experiences
