It's been a while since I read it, but I remember the doctor being one of my favourites. He was someone who was totally resigned to the absurd performances of life and of war.

One of my favourite scenes was when he had Yossarian act as that dying son of that family. They just wanted to see him before he died. They didn't even care if it was really their son! It was ridiculous, but so true!
