Personally I am between Douglas and J. Velazques. I think they are great jockeys, very constant and professional. I also like Edgar prado's style, although he has been in a slump lately.

  1. Tyler Baze. He is a great guy who trys on every horse he gets on. Yes he has had some problems in the past but dont we all? He can ride with the best of them when he gets a nice horse.

  2. My favorite jockey is the last one that rode my horse to victory.

  3. Well my favorite jockey isn't really a jockey anymore...  Gary Stevens...  he's retired, but he's a race analyst for TVG and NBC now, so I still get to watch him a lot.  And he's working horses again...  he worked horses yesterday and today.  So who knows...  maybe he'll come out of retirement again.  I'd think it would be hard watching all the races and not getting to ride.  But he has a pretty nice deal as a race analyst and he's Nakatani's agent, so he's pretty busy already.  Why do I like him?  He was consistently a great jockey from when he started riding at 14 until his two retirements.  He's really friendly.  I loved his book.  He had 2 amazing horses when he nearly won the Triple Crown...  Point Given may have lost the Derby, but he won just about everything else that year.  And I really thought Silver Charm had the Triple Crown...  it was really painful to watch him get passed a sixteenth of a mile from the finish in the Belmont.  But Gary got his revenge the next year when Victory Gallop stuck his nose in front at the finish...  That horse closed a huge distance in the stretch...  he only had his nose in front for a single stride, but it was the stride that mattered.

My favorite active rider is Joe Talamo...  17 years old and already a fantastic rider.  He's a master of pace.  This kid has an amazing future.  I can't wait to see him on a horse in the Kentucky Derby!
