  1. Roddick.  Works hard, plays hard, has a fun-to-watch power game.  Plus he's my countryman and all.

  2. Rafael Nadal - I find it very impressive that he was able to reach great heights while still very young and did not collapse like a lot of his peers (virtually all of "new balls" squad).  I also like his fighting spirit and his smart approach to the game.  Unlike other clay court specialists he's trying to improve on other surfaces without giving up his advantage on clay.  And I appreciate that he's humble and extremely respectful to all players on court, especially Federer.  After all, he holds the lead in head-to-head, while he never stops praising Federer's game.

As for the past players, Sampras and Lendl were my favorites.  I loved how they were reigning #1s while staying out of the constant spotlight.  They were quiet workhorses on the court with pretty much every weapon at their disposal.  They both were also able to dominate their respective generations, which were full of other tennis greats (i.e. McEnroe, Connors, Borg, Agassi, Courier, Becker).

  3. rafeal nadal

  4. Rafa Nadal is my favourite tennis player :)! I feel he brings tennis alive. What he brings to the court  the level of his intensity, the way he concentrates on every point, how he focuses 100% at crucial moments in the game, what other player can come back from 4-0 down and beat the number 1 in the world to win the 2nd set. I love his movement, his footwork is amazing how he chases every ball down, the way he returns a ball, the shots he can come up with at unbelievable angles. The way he prepares to serve even if he does take a little longer. The way he pumps his fist when he hits an awesome shot. I love the way he shows players respect and how well mannered he is. The fact he`s not let fame go to his head even though he is very much famous :P he is still just a down to earth guy! I love his outfit, the capris shorts 0o0o hehe his tank top to shows those lovely tanned muscles! I love his shoes that say Vamos Rafa with the symbol of a bull. I love his never say die attitude. I love the way he pauses during a game if the crowd are really noisy and not sitting down. I love the way he picks his shorts even though people find that disgusting! I love his hair (needs a trim just now though haha) I love the way he can never sit still, he`s always bouncing around. I love the way after the coin toss has been done he sprints to the back of the court. I love the way he shakes his knees when sitting down after he takes a set. I love the fact he is superstitious and places his water bottles exactly the same way everytime, how he drinks from one bottle and then drinks from the second. I love how he calls for the stringer to fix his raquet up. I love the fact that he is a shy :) I love his accent, i love the way he gets confused with english words and has to ask the translator. I love his facial expressions. I have wrist bands, the way he adjusts his socks. I love the way he bites his trophies :) The way he smiles. I love it when you see him getting pumped up and playing agressive. I love the way he hits his forehand and how wins rallies. I love the way he doesnt react to other players insults, he just stays calm n cool :P I loved the karaoke thing he did at Roland Garros last year singing ``la bamba`` the way he danced and sang ! I could go on forever but i wont :P :) Vamos Rafa !!! (Did you see the shot he got against Davydenko at monte carlo, its not letting me provide a link but even people who dislike Nadal must think that was pretty wow! its known as the ``hot shot`` you can look it up in you tube) Anyway i love Rafa and i feel he deserves to be number 1!!!!

  5. I would go for Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi. for ladies... Steffi Graf and Monica Seles... Their time has passed but they have become legendary because of their achievement and contribution to the tennis world. It is important that not only what they have achieved as proffessional tennis players but what have they contributed to the tennis community in general and to the society.

  6. roger

  7. Djokovic.

I also like Davydenko and Youzhny but Nole is my favorite!!

  8. Roger Federer, he's so incredibly versatile on court, and he always makes the sickest shots and they never miss. I love how he always seems to just move all over the court and no matter where you hit it he always gets it. I love how much of a classy gentlemen he is and he never makes excuses if he loses and always has nice things to say about others. He's also a snappy dresser, and incredibly handsome. I like others like Rafa, Roddick,Djokovic, and my fellow russki's Davydenko, Safin, and Tursunov. But Fed is my favorite ever!

  9. ROGER FEDERER.  His achievement so far has proven that he could be the best in the sport, and he is still winning! He also has the most beautiful all around game in the tour.

  10. Marat Safin.. i still have faith that he can improve his game.  Apart from that, he is an absolute hottie.

Djokovic is my fave of the top players.

  11. I am a fan of Djokovic.  First of all how can you not like someone who is that carismatic and second he is a strong player all around.  He can keep up with Federer and Nadal and he has proven it.  He may not be number one but he is one of the strongest males out there today.

  12. Arthur Robert Ashe, Jr was a prominent African American tennis player who was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. During his playing career, he won three Grand Slam titles. Ashe is also remembered for his efforts to further social causes.

  13. RAFAEL NADAL.

  14. NADAL!

  15. Novak Djokovic, because I think that represents his country well.Great sense of humor! Awesome athlete!

  16. At present: Roger Federer: He is the best with actual proofs, 12 grandslams, equaling & may surpass previous records by the past tennis greats. A feat that may be so difficult to achieve by the next generation of players. He is very versatile player that can adapt & adjust to any types & levels of his opponents styles. That's why he always wins. Plus maintaining the world #1 for 5 consecutive years, that's tough that even super heroes will admit.

The past: Pete Sampras: Again, his achievements & records will prove he is the best among his opponents during his times. He was the 1 who revolutionized power tennis. Before him, tennis was boring, slow. He introduced power serves & power returns & pin point accuracy placements that are now adopted by current players. His patented 1-2-score punch, unlike today, it may take 20 to 30 rallying shots before scoring a point, very tiring.

Those are facts & will be recorded in the history of tennis for the next generations to beat, if they can accomplish such a feat.

    Good day ladies & gentlemen.

  29. The one and only Roger Federer. The list of his achievements are endless, so I will just put the main reasons  which are as follows:

12 Grandslams, 54 singles title, 4 years as number one. He also equaled Bjorn Borg's record of winning 5 Wimbledons in a row, and is the only player to defeat Rafa on clay, even if it was just for once. He did all of this within 4 years, and is very down to earth about his achievements. Way to go Rogi !
