Who is your favorite "not a factor" player?

We all love watching the big names rack up titles and challenge eachother for slams but we shouldn't forget the little guys, the ones who are never likely to win the big one, but still manage to entertain us. Despite the fact he is never likely to win a Slam, I love watching Fabrice Santoro. He doesn't bomb in flurries of aces and he rarely puts much pace on the groundstrokes. He plays such an odd-ball game. Nothing is text-book, everything has spin on it, and many shots seem to be improvised. He makes a refreshing change in this era where power reigns supreme.

With that in mind, who is your favorite underdog?

  1. Nice question!!! hmmmm... Wawrinka has a looot of potential but tooo many stars around him.. so he will have a tough time.. Gael Monfils.. he's a true fighter.. Love his Never say die attitute.. Ljubicic, Karlovic and Ancic.. alll goood players.. but feel they dont have that extra!!!

But the best of em alll should be TIM HENMANN!!! he had all the ingredients needed to win Wimbledon.. The serve and volley game, the crowd support, the passion.. But somehow he never won. Mebbe British ppl aren destined to win wimbledon these days!!!

  2. Baghdatis, Volandri, Santoro, Paul-Henri Mathieu and Safin.

  3. Isner or Querry

  4. I love Karlovic. I just love the way hes like the gentle giant, he reminds me of the BFG from Roald Dahl's book. His height never fails to amaze me and I love what he wears, he always look like he just threw on the biggest t-shirt he can find. I also support Marina Erakovic from New Zealand cos we havent had a top 100 player in so long and even tho shes ranked about 70 she gave Jankovic a bit of a run for her money the other night and shes got a nice big serve.

You're asking really good questions. Thanks.

  5. I would say Olivier Rochus of Belgium.  Even he's just a small size player but sometime he tend to give big problems to the big players such as Safin, Berdych, Karlovic.  And even troubled Federer on grass court!!!!!!!!!  Way the go Olivier!!!!!

  6. donald young.

  7. I like Ernests Gulbis since I started watching him at the French Open this year. Although, I think he will be a factor soon.

I saw Kevin Anderson play a challenger last year and I've been impressed with him since. He's been been doing well on tour and I think he will do even better (on faster surfaces) once his ranking is high enough so he doesn't have to play qualies.

Jesse Levine and Younes El Aynaoui  are two other lower level guys that are fun to watch.

And, as you said Santoro the magician. There's never a dull moment with him.

  8. YEAH! kei nishikori for sure he'll soon be quite the elite tennis player if he continues to play as good as he did against roddick and blake

  9. andy roddick

  10. i like watching stepnek (?) --- they guy who tucks his shirt while playing. he did the worm recently, after upsetting the fed.

he looks funny, and for some reason, he gets all he tennis girls.

  11. Nicolas Almagro and Fernando Verdasco

  12. Janko Tipsarevic.

  13. I would say Robbie Ginepri and James Blake.

  14. My favorite player is Kei Nishikori.  He is only 18, and has won only one ATP tournament (Del Rey), but I really like this kid's chances.  I saw him lose to Roddick in San Jose, but it was a lot of fun to cheer him on.

  15. Mario Ancic

I think his service is amzing.

He also has the credit of hittin the most aces in roland garros.(hes one of the 10)....

    so hes my underdog
