  1. Rags to Riches because she was the first filly in 102 years to win the Belmont Stakes and she did it by defeating Curlin, the eventual Breeder's Cup Classic winner.

  2. Secretariat.....because he beat the best grade 1 horses

on dirt and turf. he even beat 1972 kentucky derby winner

riva ridge, who was his stable mate at the time......

  3. Secretariat...1st triple crown winner in like 25 years or so at the time.  He was an awesome racehorse.  Still has records for the Kentucky Derby and Belmont.

  4. grand slam because i own his son

  5. It's a toss up between Ruffian and Secretariat.  And what about Slew?  A cheap horse that became the ONLY undefeated triple crown winner.  I never thought he was much in the looks department, but he sure got it done on the track and in the breeding shed.  Even though I am a Secretariat fan, I gotta say....Secretariat probably would've gotten Slew on the track, but in the breeding shed, Slew kicked his butt.

  6. Seabiscuit -  I never saw him run but his career was amazing.

Multiple track records at many different distances belonged to this champion. He was an intelligent horse with the heart of a lion. Seabiscuit  raced for five years. came back from injury.

and finished his career at the pinnacle of success. This was one amazing horse. I have known horse racing for forty years and never saw a horse like him. He was an alpha personality and had the good fortune to be trained by the best ever, Tom Smith.

Secretariat and Ruffian (my favorite mare) were close, but Seabiscuit showed more about the breed. Definitely read the

book Seabiscuit  an American Legend.  Authored by Laura Hillenbrand. Every horse lover will appreciate the insight.

  7. Star Over The Bay because whenever that grey horse was running he left the other horses with a good distance. He will be miss.Rest In Peace

  8. Ruffian because she was amazing.  I love talented fillies...  Ruffian was always in the lead and always won every race she ran.  She was in front during every point of call of every race.  She always won by big margins... the narrowest margin she won by was about 2 lengths and during that race she was suffering from a freshly popped splint.  She broke or equalled stakes or track records in almost every race.  And she was tall and beautiful: http://www.championsgallery.com/Ruffian/...

Ruffian: never beaten, never headed... perfect.
