Obviously Kelly is the man because he is so technically sound and can take over any event in any conditions but personally, my favorite surfer and the one I like watching the most is Taj Burrow. It just seems like he has a "throw-caution-to-the-wind" kind of attitude and really attacks the waves he rides. I love the airs he pulls and he is very innovative in his cutbacks & turns, and throws some nasty floaters. It just seems like he is never afraid to take it to the next level even if it its a risky move and might take him out of contention and I respect that about him. Like I said before, I think Slater is the man but surfing, to me, isn't about points and judging. It's about freedom of expression and I think Taj personifies that more than anyone else on the ASP.

I'm gonna have to go with The Mob, Rob Machado.  Crazy speed, fluid style, can ride any board on any wave and make it look amazing.

I used to be a huge Kelly fan but he came through town promoting his Letting Go DVD a couple years ago and was pretty much an ***.  I have met both CJ and Damien Hobgood and they are super cool guys.  Very down to earth and great with kids.

I saw someone mention Wes Laine.  That's awesome.  Our kids go to school together so I see him all the time.  He is getting older and still friggin' rips.

The girl who lives across the street from me.

Kelly Slater once came to my town here in NJ and awarded a prize to a young kid who won a surfing contest; Kelly asked him: "who is your favorite surfer?" and the kid thought for a second and quietly said "my dad", and everyone in the crowd started cheering.
