Who is your favourite Les Miserables character and why?

I've read this book and it is one of my favourites. I was just wondering what your favourite characters are and why?

My favorite character is Javert. I admire him because for years he did what he thought was the right thing and when he finally learned that he had been wrong he did the only thing he could see as honorable. Javert was the truest, bravest man in the whole book.

I like Jean Valjean for the selflessness he displays throughout the novel.

Yeah, great book! (though a tad wordy :)

I just really liked the main character, Jean Valjean. He's always trying to do the right thing; I love how he sticks up for people like Fantine, when the rest of the world judges her and has no pity on her situation. He went back to prison so that innocent man wouldn't be sent there, and my very favorite part of the book was when he rescued poor Cosette from those awful people. He was so rich and didn't care about the money; he could have easily killed Javert but kept letting him go, and then he even saved Cosette's boyfriend's life, even though he didn't like him. Yeah, so anyway, he was my favorite!
