Who is your favourite captain?

mine is sourav ganguly.

Its Shane Warne and Graeme Smith for me. Shane Warne just showed what he is capable of by leading a rookie team to the cup in IPL. He has a fantastic ability to motivate people.

Graeme Smith has also matured a lot. Its no easy thing to captain an international team at 22 and still be holding the position 5 years later.

Sourav Ganguly was also good. It was refreshing to see an indian player leading with some attitude.

Dhoni seems good but he will have to prove himself over a period of time.

I don't name Ponting or Waugh because they had a fantastic team containing Mcgrath, Warne, Lee, Gilly etc at their disposal.

greame smith following hansi cronjes death in 2003 sa started losing and they were in tests ranked 5th that time but since smith has taken over they are ranked 2nd in odi and 2nd in test so they are the second best team in the world since he has taken over

Kapil or Dhoni-Off course It is Kapil.He brought us the first ever world cup & he is indeed a whole lot better than dhoni.Dhoni bcam captain just 6 months back & he has won a T20 World cup for us but has just led his side as a captain for very few series.He is still improving.He has lot of works to do & lot of hard challengers to come.

Kapil or Sachin:it is definetely Kapil.Sachin hasn't been successful as a captain at all.He was a captain for a very short while & hasn't earned so maturity through captaincy,.definitely,Kapil is better than Sachin in terms of captaincy.

Kapil or Ganguly:This can't be said directly.Kapil has done a lot of hard works bringing the 1983 world cup home but Ganguly hasn't been less at all.Under him,India made it to the 2003 world cup finals,won some Asia cups,shared a ICC Champions Trpohy with Sri Lanka,Nat-West series 2002 & many more & India matured as a strong team un der him.Even after India won the 1983 world cup,after that,they did not had some good time & they lost many series & didn't became one of the strong teams that time.But under Sourav ganguly,Indians became matured,improved,motivated,spirited & became one of the tuff teams to play.

So,Sourav is in a way better than Kapil & better than any other Indian captain.

Sunil Gavaskar was brainy. He would be a strategist. India did not have great players in his time. Mostly Sunil had to wage a lone war to make the match a draw. He would not accept defeat at any cost. He would struggle and struggle for his national pride.

Kapil Dev was a killer on the field. He would bat, bowl, field and captain the team. It was raw energy and passion and positivity for the game and a win. The way he supported his team mates was superb. He led from the front.  

The times were different. I would choose these two captains over and above any body.

It does not depend that which team you r supporting would be ur favourite captain.It depends who play in pressure and can handle the pressure very well and who always support his team even his team is losing so this type of captian should be there who play for team and take care of team also so by this i would choose MS Dhoni(currently)

Mine is Sourav Ganguly too. It's he who brought the aggressive temperament in the team, and he was the skipper who lead the team with passion. When the charge of captaining the team was handed over to Ganguly, the Indian team was in a dismal state, it's very foundations being shaken by the allegations of match fixing. In that tough situation, Dada reorganised the team with patience, brought forth many young talents, and guided the team back on the path of victory. I think no other Indian captain has done such a wonderful job as Sourav Ganguly.

my favorite is Graeme Smith I like how he has matured into a much more sensible captain on and off the field and Shaun Pollock when he captained SA bar a few mistakes like the 2003 world cup fiasco his captaincy record was and still is very good
