I think some of Britain's best chefs were highlighted on the recent Cooking for the Queen TV programme. Quite a few were absent (Gordon Ramsay, Locatelli etc.) but many others gave a good look into what current chefs are doing in their kitchens and we can't include someone like Ainsley in this high-power group. There are so many unsung heros and heroines.

Kevin and I had dinner up in Norfolk on Friday night, and it was sensational.. and just a pub in a small town.

I would go for Gordon Ramsey. I know that folk get upset with his brutal honesty, but he is to cooking what Simon Cowel is to the music industry. You have to admire his talent. Even though he is obviously making huge amounts of cash by doing all his telly shows, I feel thet he has genuinely helped a lot of struggling chefs to "turn the corner" and become successful.
