Interesting that the bookies had Els as a favourite at one point.  

I almost wonder if this could be like 2003 with a relative unknown wins (Ben Curtis); not sure what odds are on the field, but I'd have to give that some thought.

For me the real intrigue is Lee Westwood; he came within a shot of making the playoff at the US Open; how well will he do on home soil (where he hasn't had the best of luck)?  

Garcia is impossible to figure out...winning the Players in recent years hasn't equalled success in the majors.

If I had GBP25 in front of me, I'd put a fiver on each of the following:

-Ernie Els

-Lee Westwood

-the field

-Mike Weir (he's Canadian)

-Jim Furyk

Glad I checked all betting places odds before actually putting the bets on these players as ladbrookes offered better odds.

Padraig Harrington is going to struggle with his wrist injury. Dont discount Greame McDowell going close, Jimenez would also be a great bet. Sergio Garcia will be itching for it after his dissapointment last year as well!

I would say back Garcia for the win but have an outside punt on Jiminez (hes about 40-1)
