  1. Tough question, we're all going to answer "you're looking at him".

So what else are you going to use to decide.

  2. Easy answer, you are reading his reply. :)

The best current fighter Squadron, 409 TFS. The best of my past? 416 TFS. We Canadians are the best of the best.

Just ask any fighter pilot that question. And how will you know he is a fighter pilot? Don't worry he will let you know.

As for a previous reply, we don't often fly as the Aggressor, normally we fly as the attacking force. I've taken part in at least a dozen Maple Flags (far bigger than Red Flag). I also participated in Desert Storm and the Balkans.

Capt. Kevin "NASTY" Naismith - Nasty was my pal and former Squadron mate, thanks for the dedication!

  3. At a recent NATO exercise in Canada the Canadian Air Force pilots came away with the Top Scores. In all fairness, though, they were acting in the aggressor role and the aggressor usually wins in these scenarios.

The Canadian and the USA pilots usually 'fight' it out to a draw. Pretty much a given since they fly similar aircraft and share similar training regimes.

Dedicated to the memory of Capt. Kevin "NASTY" Naismith

  4. open to speculation and personal preferences.

the "best" of the "best" have never been pitted against each other.

There have been a few competitions like Red Flag, William Tell, but they're mostly small gatherings of a few squadrons from only 2 or 3 nations max. (usually USA, canada)

I'm thinking a US squadron. Or maybe an Israeli one because they have American equipment and are(were) trained by USAF) Or how about a squadron from an Asian country where the economy is blooming and rules are stricter than in h**l? The Japanese Self Defense Force? or even the PRCAF?

remember, the most popular may not last in combat. nor the most deadliest.

what matters is what happens in a war, and that thankfully has not happened yet.
