I sometimes receive mysterious calls from a blocked number, that, when I pick up the phone, simply plays a pre-recorded message that says (in a womans voice) "Oops. Wrong number. Sorry".

The question is Who What and Why?

Other people in the local area have also received these same messages. Has anyone experienced this? I live in the North East PA region.

  1. Have you tried *69?

  2. I have the same issue. It is incredibly annoying. There must be a key word or number to switch you to another directory or menu, but I have no idea. I think it is a servie for telemarketers and automated telemarketing service to know when people are home. Everyone has to make a living, but this only makes me more uniterested in buying anything over the phone. It is destructive to the telemarketing business, but it will not likely stop that business because everything is automated now anyway. One person can run a telemarketing business by themselves.

  3. Don't have what you want, but if she's doing anything really wrong and not just being a nuisance, you should try calling the police.
