Is this just another "random" pick or do you actually want an answer this time.

Darth Plagieus was killed by his apprentice Darth Sidious (Palpatine) ... it's the Sith way.  When the apprentice reaches a level that he thinks he can destroy his master he does.

We don't know yet if it was a lie or not.  The popularity of the Darth Bane book series has bumped the release of the Darth Plagieus book back again and again.  HOWEVER ...

If you listen to Palpatine in ep III he says to Anakin when Anakin joins him:  "The power to cheat death is a power that only one has achieved but if we work together I know we can find the secret."

If Anakin had been in his right mind when Palpatine said that to him he should have just stood up and kicked him out the same window that Mace went out because it should have told Anakin that Palpatine was lying to him all a long when he said he had the power to save Padme.  Of course that would have screwed up the whole saga so it's what we got.  

Truth is that Palpatine killed Plagieus before he had taught him that power.  Palpatine thought he was powerful enough to figure it out by himself but he wasn't and that was why he needed Anakin's power to search more for the secret.  Until the book about Plagieus comes out we really can only speculate on if it was true or not.
