While Queen of Scotland Mary did some really stupid things--

like allowing the murder of her husband(who was a real pain) and promptly married the Principal suspect in the murder,

She allowed her 1/2 brother too much power and fled to England  who had a different religion and was frequently at war with Scotland for safety when (I believe ) that she could get to France with just a little bit more effort.  As she was a potential rally point for Catholics. The Pope said that it was the duty of ever good Catholic to kill the protestant b*****d Elizabeth and put the Catholic Mary on the throne. After being involved in plots to kill Elizabeth , Mary was finally beheaded. A lot of people did really stupid things to poor Mary. she was very young and NOT taught to rule but to listen to her Mothers relatives.
