  1. It was a combination of things.  No one thing can be nailed down as the culprit.  It's kind of like an aircraft accident investigation.  Often you find an entire series of little events that if one had been diverted the catastrophe could've been avoided.  There is no technical reason for no EV's.  The batteries to do the job do exist.

It's all laid out in sickening detail in the film "Who Killed the Electric Car".  It's 90 minutes well spent in the light of $4 gas.

Personally I blame one man.  His signature is at the bottom of the directive that required all of the EV1's to be destroyed.  He was the chairman of the board of General Motors corporation in 2003, Richard Wagoner.  Since GM is the industry leader all of the other car makers either followed suit or were coerced in to destroying their EV's as well.  Remember they are all linked through the Automobile Manufacturers Association.

  2. I rented the movie and the jury is still out.  It certainly appears that the car companies pulled the plug on it (pun intended), but the question is at the behest of whom?  I think it was the oil companies along with governments (both US and foreign).

  3. No one in particular. Cost, limited range, lack of trunk space (due to size of battery bank) and lack of places to recharge away from home caused people to loose interest.

  4. Its is really bad that the oil companies are allowed to run this country putting money in the presidents pockets. There so much technology out there that it can set us oil free but no one will ever here about it because money talks to shut people up
