All I'm seeing on these boards is that Palin is stupid, inexperienced, and that McCain chose her so he could **** her! How can you even judge her when no one has even heard of her up until 2 days ago! How sexist can you get? And you wonder why I'm switching to McCain/Palin? You can't even see past her ovaries! All I see and read about her is great! So she's a little on the conservative side. Actually, I'd say she more in my middle. But she's someone people can TRUST, unlike the DNC lately.

  1. Sarah Palin has something that no VP in recent memory has. She has real, verifiable, executive experience. Here's the real shocker. She got where she did being married to a blue collar husband who earns $46,000 per year. Oh my goodness, and she graduated from a state college and not Harvard, Yale or some other "I'm smarter than you" kind of school. Let's see. Look at all the VP candidates over the past few elections. Senators, Congressmen, Congresswomen, etc. No governors. Geraldine Ferraro was a 3 or 4 term Congresswoman when she was nominated. Biden, Gore, Lieberman, Kemp, Bentsen, Cheney, Edwards, Quayle - none of them governors. Speaking of Edwards, how much political experience did he have when he was nominated? I like the guy, but he basically financed his own Senate seat.

Here's the deal with Sarah Palin. She got where she did entirely on her own merits. She did not marry rich. She has no family connections. Her husband is not famous. In fact he is a proud union member. She is not an Ivy League educated snob. She is a very strong woman. She runs 6-7 miles per day (in the cold Alaskan air!), she just gave birth to a child with Down Syndrome knowing that was the case. 9 out of 10 couples when faced with the same decision choose to abort. Whether you agree with her position on abortion, the woman has principles, and she sticks to them. She ran for governor against an entrenched incumbent in the primary (of her own party no less) and won and then beat a former governor in the general election. The woman is tough. She is smart. She also has experience with actually running something. She runs the state, and she ran a small city.

Let's face it folks. It's sexism pure and simple. That lack of experience thing is complete c**p. It's desperation at the highest level. Suddenly the experience issue is no longer a factor. Oh really? Then why isn't Biden the presidential nominee with Obama as the vice presidential nominee? Sarah Palin is being picked on because she is a woman. That's it. Pure and simple.

I was kind of undecided in this election, but when I saw her name announced Friday morning, I checked her out, and yes, I am definitely voting for McCain/Palin. In fact, I have called all my friends, and gave them her complete bio, and they are indeed impressed. At last, a real, normal person running for high office. She actually won the governor's race with no name recognition, no fancy degree from some s****. university, and nobody, I mean nobody outside of Alaska has ever heard of her husband. The guy makes $46,000 and races snowmobiles. She earned everything she got, and being a man, I am embarrassed to say this, but she did it without her husband. I admire Hillary, but let's be honest. Hillary married Bill. Who did Sarah Palin marry? I don't really know. He certainly had little if anything to do with her political success. I'll be honest. She's a truly independent woman, and men find that threatening.

  2. to be honest they only reason that im looking at her gender so critically is that she seems to lack a lot of other things that would make her a top choice for VP

Her experience is limited -  granted so is Obama's but of her "13 years in elected office" all but her first term as governor of alaska was with leadership of 9000 people (the population of her hometown) or less

Her home state doesn't carry many electoral votes - granted neither does biden's so neither VP will secure a large local voting block

Finally she doesn't bring expertise to the McCain ticket - where Obama lacks foreign experience Biden makes up for that

You say though that Democrats can't see past her ovaries as though its a negative thing for the GOP. The GOP is banking on that, The GOP is banking on Palin grabbing the former clinton voters who won't see past her ovaries and vote for the McCain ticket based on the fact that she has ovaries. To be honest its a risky plan, but it scares me as a Democrat, all I can hope is that it is seen as what it is, A GIMMICK to capture disgruntled Clinton supporters

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION ABOUT MERIT:

In short I don't see why they can't be, but Palin doesn't have the merit to justify herself as a VP, Maybe as a mayor and then single term governor, but not VP. There are strong experienced republican women Condiliza Rice for example, and im just not sure why they weren't considered and the only thing that i can think of is that they didn't the image that McCain's Gimmick is trying to portray. 3. I DID, I DID, I DID.

  4. Well, there's no excuse for being rude but the fact is that she IS inexperienced.

And the reason she WAS chosen is BECAUSE she's a woman. That's it. A man with her credentials would NEVER have been chosen. EVER.

She brings nothing to the table. Not foreign policy experience. Not economic experience. Nothing.

    It's an irresponsible choice.

  5. I knew it.  I also know they are hypocrites, communists, panderers, homophobic, and racist.  Dumocrats like to talk the talk to get themselves elected and re-elected.  When the time comes to actually walk the walk, they come up with some insane excuse for changing the rules.

  6. I havent heard anything at all. I know a lot of times that Rep and Dem write just plain stupid things to mke the other angry basically posing like their from the party! (duh)

  7. Democrats are scared to death of conservative blacks and Republican women.  It jeopardizes the entire fabric of their party.  If only white males could vote, Democrats would lose every election.

  8. I have always known that most liberal men only pay lip service to equal treatment of women and most Conservative men don't even pay lip service, Anyone who thought otherwise had only to watch how Hillary was treated by the DNC and the Liberal media. The only thing I found surprising  is the way young women reacted. Not only did they not support her, which is understandable if they preferred Obama glitz, but they used sexist stereotypes to attack her and were even nastier than the men.

  9. I knew it the moment they started tearing down Hillary.

  10. Actually, most people are judging Palin on real issues not her gender. For example, she is against a woman's right to choose. She is pro-gun and an NRA member. She is in denial of evolution and wants to promote creationism in schools. As a beauty pageant contestant she obviously has no problem with the objectification of women and how that impacts on young women and girls. I think, all in all, (and aside from a few yahoos,) people have given fair comment.

  11. I'm a 18 year old guy, and I liked Hillary Clinton, a lot.

Unfortunately, thanks to MEN, she lost. Men are sexist, I agree with you. All they care about is s*x.

  12. What makes you think its DEMOCRATS who hate her?  Maybe it's redundicans?

Besides its much better to be a racist...go put your white pointy hat on and sit in the corner.

  13. Wow...what a profound message.

(Many did turn on Hillary. )

  14. .

  15. Calling her stupid, inexperienced, backwoods, et al, has nothing to do with her s*x.  Her policies suck.  McCain's policies suck.  THAT is why I won't be voting for them.  Had Hillary gotten the nomination, I would vote for her in November.  It has nothing to do with s*x, and everything to do with policy.

  16. McBush/Quaylen are shockingly obvious about their pandering.  The 18 million cracks line isn't Quaylen's line, and Quaylen didn't earn the right to say it.

  17. Everybody can be ignorant.  No party has a monopoly on it.  Those of us who support Obama certainly can testify to that!

Palin is not stupid...she's very accomplished.  I don't think I'd be happy with her as McCain's vp.  I don't think she has the right experience for the position.  I'm also concerned that McCain barely knew her before choosing her for the ticket.

  18. That's true; the democrats are the ones who invented all the "isms" in the first place. Hypocrisy, anyone?Oh and September17, two things, one, ur nic is my birthday and second, not all men find independent women threatening. Generalize much?

  19. I hate that if people say what you say they are saying, but I Love women and would have had no problem voting for Hillary had she won, But Palin is No Hillary Clinton, and I think McCain has lost his mind. I come to this site everyday and read hundreds of insults towards Obama, his Race, his supporters, his wife and his Kids. Can't remember ever seeing you defend Michelle Obama about sexist.

  20. Governor Palin is chair of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. She was recently named chair of the National Governors Association (NGA) Natural Resources Committee, which is charged with pursuing legislation to ensure state needs are considered as federal policy is formulated in the areas of agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management. Prior to being named to this position, she served as co-chair of this committee.

In short, Bush chose her as McCains running mate because she is in the oil companies' pocket, and a female. McCain=McSame X 2

  21. They refuse to acknowledge that they are sexist. The same way they refused to acknowledge that Obama received over 90% of the Black vote because he is Black.  Yes, Blacks overwhelmingly vote Dem--but there were two candidates running.  One was much more qualified, the other was Black--the rest we all know.    ***

  22. No human is infallible.

And this rhetoric is silly-- if we're sexist, does that make you racist?

Edit:  The question is rhetorical.  Most people use -isms without fully understanding it.  Gender roles have had a huge role in this election and I am fascinated to see how it plays out from now on.  However, I find it rather juvenile to just throw out an ism to deflect real issues.  Hence why I threw back the ism, thus pointing it out.

  23. how is calling Sarah Palin stupid and inexperienced..sexist? You McCain supporters call Obama that, now you're whining.
