  1. acoustic guitar? try your local music school. they give classical/folk lessons. very basic. fun. in fact, i'm taking them this summer! they can be a little expensive, but summer lessons are WAY cheap. only 200 dollars... so, give that a shot. or look for local fliers, people who give music lessons. good luck!

  2. Most local communities have a "recreation center" where activities like music instructions is available.

The guitar being a very popular instrument is probably included in their classes.  Call your local

school district including jr colleges ,to check on

any summer sessions in beginners guitars.

You don't have to be a "diploma or degree seeking student" to be admitted to those classes.

If none is available I will recommend this book to

get you a basic (but solid beginner) background in

    your guitar training:

HOW TO PLAY GUITAR by Roger Evans.

sub-titled:Everything you need to know to play the

guitar. The cost is $10.95 and is found at most book stores.

If not in stock they  order it for you.

This book is worth about 4 hours of private guitar

instructions and is a very good reference source

    to keep handy for reviews.

Good Luck and Enjoy Your Guitar
