I really want to go to Costa Rica and teach english and learn spanish. When I search the internet, there are so many choices and so much information. I don't know what is the best to choose, or if I am missing other information. Anyone who has traveled to other countries and lived there and know the best way I can get information on staying in CR for 6months-1year, let me know! Thanks!

  1. Would you like to teach English in middle and high school?

Then contact the Ministry of Education, English Language Program:

    http://www.mep.go.cr/docentes/InglesPrin...

If you would like to teach English in elementary school, then you'll find some contact e-mail addresses here:

    http://www.mep.go.cr/oficinas/lenguasext...

I'm sure they would the thrilled to have somebody who is a native English speaker teach English!  And you can teach in the city or in a small town near the beach.

    Good luck!

  2. I've lived in Costa Rica for over 3 years.  My first job was teaching English to small groups.  The place I worked was called Pro Language.  www. prolanguage.org  It payed well and offered a number of different class and location options.  If your moving to Costa Rica I would check out www.everythingcostarica.com.  Pura Vida.
