Who knows about the safeness of Bayahibe, La Romana Dominican Republic?

My Fiance and I just found a GREAT deal to honeymoon in the Domincan Republic in Bayahibe La Romana. However we need to be sure that it is a SAFE place to go and that the trip isn't so affordable for a wrong reason.

It is safer then in your country!!! Usa is always at war, that's why the americans are always asking for safety!!!!

We have been to the Bayahibe, La Romana area and you will be safe but always use caution. Use the same common sense you use in your home town. Don't flash money or wear expensive jewelry. Be careful traveling in dark deserted areas late at night.

Stay under the radar and you will be safe, just like you are in your own home town/city.

Dominican Republic has very reasonable prices compared to other Caribbean Islands, besides the beautiful beaches it's a bargain and the people are wonderful. Many Europeans visit DR because of the wonderful all-inclusive resorts. Not to worry, you will have a great honeymoon.

I haven't been to La Romana but I've been to Puerto Plata and I was very disappointed.  It's not nice anywhere off the resorts.  In fact, it was surprisingly ghetto.  I can't imagine anywhere else on the island being any better since Puerto Plata is supposed to be their "nice" place.    The beaches there are nice and there are plenty of places you can go that are OK but if you want to take a stroll or a drive I wouldn't recommend it.

The Dominican Republic is very safe. The crime rates are lower than most US cities. Just use common sense and don't flash lots or money or walk dark streets at night alone. I love DR. But it is nearly a third world country in some ways. The resorts are very nice and will treat you like royalty. The resort has good security personel.  Many people are shocked at the poverty outside the resorts, but don't worry. They are the friendliest people on earth. Again- it is a very safe area, have fun. DR is the best vacation bargian.
