  1. I highly recommend Casa Mingo for a fun night out. Roasted chicken, ask for a salad, some cabrales cheese and of course, lots of cider!  Paseo de la Florida 34 (metro: principe pio). It can be a little hard to find, but just ask anyone.

Also, everywhere you go you will find cafes that offer a "menu del dia" for the afternoon main meal of the day. It is often under 10 euros and includes several courses, wine and dessert. Just look for signs on the sidewalk.

For an off-the-beaten-path suggestion, I like El Museo Del Queso. Not to be confused with the ubiquitous Museo del Jamon. It is a modest neighbourhood bar, but they'll fill you up with a variety of cheeses, wine and drinks. Fun for groups. Calle de Joaquín Martín, 2 (metro: marques de vadillo )

  2. If you like chic enviroment and good mediterranean food, go to "Mezklum", this restaurant is in "Huertas". But if u like tipical tipical spanish food, in "Huertas" you can find many restaurants where u can eat paella, croquetas, cocido, callos, empanadillas, calamares....

Remember, the best "bocata de calamares" of Madrid is in "Ideal" a street leads to Plaza Mayor.

Enjoy the best food of the world!
