my two year old grandaughter likes organising things and I think she would like to play number games and explore early maths concepts.

Can you help me with this?

  2. Hi

Any board game involving  a die.  There are lots on the market these days that contain bright colours, animals, and other things that are likely to hold her attention.  Then once she's got the hang of it you can introduce another die.

I made a die for my (now 3) year old daughter using an old cereal box.  This way you can make it bigger and easier for them to count the dots.  I got my daughter involved in making it.  She was in charge of colouring it in, which she enjoyed.  It also makes it more personal.  it doesn't matter what it looks like as long as the dots are nice and clear.

There is also a tv program called Dora The Explorer.  My daughter watches it every morning.  It teaches them to count, amongst other things.  The main character is a Spanish girl.  I was amazed a few months ago when, during a counting game, my daughter counted to 10 in Spanish.

It just goes to show how much they can learn at that age if they find something interesting and fun.

    Hope this helps.

    Have fun.

  4. Memory Match was my sons favorite game at that age.

  5. my favorite is to give them a hand full of color full snacks, (m&Ms, marshmallows, goldfish crackers,) and count how many different colors. we also like to make flash cards with dots on the #s and put that many small toys on the dots, have her count the stairs on the slide at the park, or how many flowers in the pot, there are also a number of websites that she can play counting games, like fisherprice.com, playschooldisney.com, yahooligans, kol, funschool, kneebouncers, or just google math games for toddlers.
