Theres the VDSH (Verband Deutscher Sondengänger und Heimatforscher), its Internet presence is in german only :

According to their website, it depends on what state (Bundesland)

you're in whether or not you get to keep the treasures you found entirely, whether you'll be rewarded or whether they'll take it away without reward.

Hehe. Be careful. I found a live bomb when I was at a friends house and his dad was digging a foundation! In Kleinmachnow--- next to Berlin.

I am living in Germany myself, and if it's archeology, so do NOT do this in Germany - it's unlawful and the fines are very high in Germany if you detect archeological artifacts and bring them out of the country!!!!!  The German laws are very serious about this issue.

And, myself, I also don't like the idea that someone from the U.S. or the UK finds/discovers an archeological item in this country and bring it to another country...If a German national would do the same thing in the UK, the outrage and cry would be extremely loud!!!!!
