  1. Covering warts with nail varnish or clear glue will make them disappear in about 2 weeks.

"Old wives" didn't know why it works. Now we know: it is because the virus which causes the wart needs air to survive. If you prevent air from reaching it, it will die and the wart with it.

You have to keep putting varnish or glue on the wart (about twice a day) as any crack in it will let air through.

    All the best to you!

  2. Here's a good one, when I was about twelve, I had a few warts on my right hand. They were there for about six months and I had tried everything to get rid of them. Then one day my mum told me, I know it sounds strange, to rub a piece of bacon ( yes bacon ) on to the hand where the warts were. Once I had done that, she told me to bury the piece of bacon in the back garden.

Guess what ? It worked, within a fortnight they were gone.( although it could've been - probably was - a coincidence ).

I like to think it was that old wives tale that got rid of them.

  3. Smack your gangleon with a bible! I guess they meant any heavy book. I didn't do that but my chiro shot mine with his 'activator' (a kind of tiny automatic hammer tool) and it has never returned.

    Worked for me.

Wonder why they have to be 'old' wives?

  4. Water with some pepermint(I add a little sugar too) in it works awsome for a slightly upset stomoch.

Honey works great as a moisturizer, and is also a really good anticeptic. Put a dab of honet on a band-aid and aply it to a cut to keep it from getting infected.

If you get a bad sunburn, try apple cider viniger. Use a wash cloth or a towel and dab it all over the sun burn and then let it dry. It smells pretty bad, but it takes the heat right out of the sun burn. After the viniger has dried, a shower may be a must!

  5. Hi:   This might be a small tangent to your question. I don't know how much you know about Edgar Cayce, but he was one of the world's most gifted and documented psychics. He gave over 14,000 readings---FOR FREE---and over 8,000 of these readings are related to health issues. Virtually all of his reading have been stored at the Edgar Cayce center at Virgina Beach.

He was a pioneer of what we now call the alternative health movement. Many of his remedies might fall into the category of what you call old wives tales. He recommended herbs, poultices, castor oil packs, chiropractic, etc.

In my opinion, many of his remedies worked, but not all of them.

  6. well its an old wives tale that sitting on a cold surface gives you piles, but that is in fact true, because veins come out to the surface of your skin when you are cold. a pile, or haemorroid is a protruding vein, so if you sit on a cold surface all your weight is pushing down and the cold will make the veins in your r****m protrude and come out, therefore giving you a pile

  7. Here is some...Drink a shot of Apple cider Vinegar every day for reducing Triglycerides in the blood.  also.   Start small but end up taking a 1/4 of a teaspoon of Ceyene pepper a day to reduce LDL level in the blood. also eat 10 red tart cherries a day to relieve pain  in joints and muscles  ....My Aunt Luva swears by these and she is 93.
