Who knows what kind o equipment i need to build a recording studio?

24 track recorder, powered monitors. guitar,bass,drums,keys.mic's,headphones

no computer necessary, been making my own cd's for years.

Go down to your local Pro Audio shop.  They will be able to walk you through what you need for what you are trying to accomplish.

you will need a computer, a microphone, speakers, equalizers, instruments you want to play with, and fabric that will neutralize the sound from the outside  and a recording program for the computer. I know because i took a college course on music recording and also I work in a music booth once every two weeks.
