Who knows where I can find this old dive bar in NYC?

I heard of an old bar in New York City, that back in World War II, before troops shipped out they would leave their dog tags at the bar. So that when they came back they could pick them up again.

I heard it's a great old bar, with cheap beer, and kind of a mess.

I don't know its name, or where to find it. Who can help?

I think ur talking about 2 by 4 which is literally on 2nd ave and 4th st.

Can one of you cite an internet source for this information? I tried using Google and I see no hits for anything relevant to the bar 2 by 4 having to do with dog tags being left at the bar.
