  5. On his first trip, Cristobal Colon got to the island of San Salvador. It was in the Bahamas and he re-called the island "San Salvador" because they had been travelling for a looong time and they were out of food and water, so they were "Saved" and Salvador means Saviour in Spanish. So none of the above....They afterwards went to Cuba and to the Island called "La Española" which now has the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
