  1. Are you looking for monologues or for scenes? Are you looking for theatre or film? Are you getting ready for an audition or a performance, or just looking for some acting tips? Remember dreams are wonderful, but if you don't base them in reality and have some knowledge, than they won't come true.

Since I'm not sure what you want, I'm going to give you some tips on just how to work on getting yourself ready for an audition. There are basically two different kinda of auditions- prepared and cold. For 'prepared' you'll get a script in advance or bring in a monologue and perform in front of the director or casting people. For 'cold' you'll go in with nothing. They will give you a script and you will have a minute maybe two, to read over it and than you'll perform.

The best way to practice either of these is to do!

So pick out a few monologues and prepare them, than perform in front of your family or friends. As an actress you should always have at least 3 monologues prepared and ready to go at all times. Try having a modern comedic, a modern dramatic and a classic (Shakespeare) mono under your belt. Make sure that they are from published plays (not something written by you or found on the internet that is sketchy), and that they fit what kind of characters you would actually play (your age, gender, race, abilities, etc).

For cold reading just start picking up books, magazines, newspapers and just start reading them aloud. Check out this site for some excellent cold reading skill builders: http://playsandmusicalsnewsletter.pionee...

  3. Go to your local book store and look up books on plays and screenplays -many of them will contain entire scripts.  Amazon.com should have them too.  Sometimes you can even find a script for a particular feature film.
