I'm tired of the mixed fatty 'whatever' you get sold in Chicago as Gyros. Looking for a place that makes pork Gyros, who knows such one? - thanks.

  1. JB Gyros on W 79th might be a good start if you haven't tried that already?

Or there's the Parthenon Restaurant on Halsted, which the previous reply mentioned as a good street to start with.

Hope that steers you in the right direction...

  2. You realize gyros are made from lamb, right? That's the "fatty whatever" you'll find typically sold as gyros meat---and it's tasty!

The general understanding in Chicago is that gyros meat is lamb, not pork.

Most places where I have gotten gyros, the staffers cut the slices of meat off from a hunk of lamb meat on a spit. That's why I doubt the meat product is a mix of questionable "meats" such as is sometimes the case with cased meats, e.g., hot dogs and other sausages. But I could be wrong....

  3. probably somewhere along Halsted St in Greektown

or a shop that sells polish sausages, burgers, and hot dogs

  4. pork gyros? gross
