Question:

Who likes lieberman? Honestly?

Do democrats like this guy? He's such a phony, up there hating on Obama, the same Obama he called personally in 06 to come out and campaign for him in his senate election. He's supporting a candidate who is against everything except for security that he's for. For example he's been at the forefront of raising the minimum wage, attempting 17 times to do this, while McCain has been voting against it.

I know republicans can't like this guy hes against everything you are for. So really who likes this guy? And why do you like him? And how do you defend him lying at the RNC saying Obama hasn't reached across party lines to accomplish anything when the facts are quite different:

Obama collaborated with Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., in 2006 to pass a law (PL 109-282) creating a Google-like database of federal contracts and grants allowing users to type in key words that would bring up exactly how much money any particular recipient received.

• With then-Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Richard G. Lugar, R-Ind., Obama won enactment of a 2006 law (PL 109-401) that allowed the United States to export nuclear fuel, technology and reactors to India for the first time in three decades. The law accepted India as a nuclear-armed power and was enacted despite concerns about India’s ties to Iran and past sanctions for transferring sensitive equipment to Iran.

• He also worked with Lugar on a Senate bill that authorized the president to carry out a program to provide assistance to foreign countries to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Another part of the measure was intended to stop the spread of conventional weapons, notably shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles that the legislation refers to as man-portable air defense systems, or MANPADS. The bill's provisions were incorporated into a House bill that passed later that year and was signed into law in January 2007 (PL 109-472).

These bills arguably meet the threshhold of significance, particularly the two measures with Lugar on important foreign policy issues. Since Obama is a Democrat, and Lugar and Coburn are Republicans, that seems to qualify as reaching across party lines. We find Lieberman's claim False.

  1. Did any of those issues require him to take flak from his Demcratic leaders or was their basically a broad appeal amongst both Republican / Democrats?

It is kind of like the immigration issue, how much c**p did McCain get for his effort?  Its one thing for Obama to say "Hey Republican lets come up with a bill that says we shouldn't sell nuclear technology to North Korea" (no c**p Sherlock) than to say "Hey Republicans, lets get something done to deal with immigration" (and deal with the flack from the Democratic Party dragging its feet).

  2. I like him because he says what he thinks even though it might hurt him politically. It takes guts to say what he said last night. I am also a former Democrat, now an independent. Moderates like me and Joe Lieberman are no longer represented by the party which has moved to the very far left by nominating the most liberal member of Congress.

  3. If Lieberman was Al Gore's running mate, and Al Gore is the most brilliant man in America, isn't that all of the endorsement that Joe Lieberman needs?

Seriously, he is very pissed of about the lack of support that he received from Democrats in his 2006 Senate reelection bid.  The people who helped him were Republicans... AND NOW IT'S PAYBACK TIME!

  4. I agree with you about what he said about Obama. I was quite disappointed in him. I understand that he is trying to help his friend win, but that was a total lie and he knew it. Maybe he was secretly trying to sabotage his own credibility. I don't know. I was disgusted.

  5. Joe is OK, I like him alright, always did.  And he is right, Obama's record is nothing compared to McCain's, and Obama's past is a lot scarier than Palin's.  Obama is a bad choice for President, there's no two ways about it.  If he weren't black, no one would have ever heard of him, that's his one and only qualification.

  6. I do, he will destroy the Republican Party

  7. I don't like or dislike Lieberman but I do respect him as a wise man.

  8. EDIT:  SPARTA, if that is how you react to dissenters in your "fight,"  then you have already lost.

Lieberman spoke his opinion; that it is different from yours does not reduce his expression of integrity, of conviction.

Do you think you are hurting Lieberman with your intentions?  No.  He knows worse; he knows about hate like yours; he was, likely, born knowing---you say "fight for nothing"----what about STRIVE; if the intentions are good, it is never for nothing--there is the difference!

You, however, are the one CHOOSING to burn, you are the one CHOOSING to be consumed.

I have seen several interviews, comments by Lieberman on different topics.  Whatever his opinions, I believe that he is a man who strives for personal integrity and is unusually conscious (for a politician) and self-aware regarding priorities.  He displayed a sense of humor last night, as well as genuine human emotion (it may have been hard for him to stand, "a Democrat *like him*" before a sea of Republicans" They began as a polite but slightly skeptical audience, and he won them over----

  9. I do.

  10. I think he should be dousted with some IRAQ gas and set on fire...LOL

Then he can feel what it is like to fight for nothing.
